A Sense of Humor

Report From An Opinionated Gardener – January 27

The driveway is a sheet of ice and the banks of snow are so high that if there is another significant storm I won’t be able to pull my car out of the driveway.

But, the dog is so cute as he dashes around in the white stuff, trying to cram as much in his mouth as he can before I tell him “No eating snow!”  And the garden gnome by the back door seems to smirk even as he’s frozen to the wall.

No matter what is going on, it’s important to keep a sense of humor.

He's a talisman and reminder of the growing season that will surely be back again.

With the black ice EVERYWHERE I suggest that you take The Dog to a local beach where walking on the sand is totally SAFE. At our local beach my doodle was wholeheartedly sniffing for critters at the edge of the dunes, and my heart was filled as he ran circles around me, eyes bright and ears flapping. I swear he woofed “Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

With your “no bad weather, only bad clothes” in mind I bundled up extra well and enjoyed what nobody else had. Ours were the only tracks from the parking lot.
