My “I Love This Plant” on GardenLine this week is Zauschneria garrettii ‘Orange Carpet’ – common name Creeping Hummingbird Trumpet.
I got this plant from High Country Gardens a few years ago and I’ve loved it ever since – in fact, I got some more to plant in my new dry garden. This perennial grows 4 to 6 inches tall and about 16” wide because it stays low and looks great before it blooms, it makes a perfect front of the border plant for perennial gardens in sun or part sun. Plant this in well drained but amended soil. It is also good for hanging over walls and is hardy in zones 5 to 9.
Here I have it planted in front of the Helenium." title="zau_garden" />
