Report From PIA – December 17

It was my last day in the city, and I had fun doing city things. The Museum of Modern Art, a French bakery for breakfast (and provisions for the plane tomorrow) and shopping for gifts.

As much as I enjoy being in the city for awhile, I’ll be very glad to get back home…to my own bed, my dog, and of course, the gardens. I’m looking forward to less exhaust in the air and our organically raised potatoes and green beans.

Traveling opens our eyes to new sights and ideas, and for this I’m grateful. But I wonder why it’s so difficult to take that same break to look at new things without leaving home. I could take a day every few months and play tourist on Cape Cod, and chances are I’d be just as creatively stimulated as I am when I fly across country to do the same thing. Hmmm… maybe a day to view my own back yard with new eyes should be a part of this year of conscious cultivation.

I love the combination of cherry blossoms and Christmas decor in Japan Town.

Some fantastic paper monster kits from Japan - I bought six of them, ready to assemble.

Passersby were looking at me with dismay as I intentionally moved the camera as I was taking the shot.

More play with the city lights, Christmas lights on the palm trees, and camera shaking. Fun!
