Report From An Opinionated Gardener – November 16
Today I did a consultation on the bay side of the Cape and saw a huge, budded Camellia bush. This is not a usual site in this area, but this plant was clearly sheltered enough to thrive.
Next I took The Dog to Dowses Beach where I picked up shells and watched as the light changed the ocean colors to assorted shades of green. Finally, The Dog and I went into the woods next to Poison Ivy Acres, and saw several trees that had fallen in a recent windstorm.
There are marvelous plants, gardens, lovely beaches and acres of woodland all around me, all the time, but weeks can go by between visits to such surroundings.
What local treasures and environments surround you, and how long has it been since you’ve taken advantage of them?

A walk in the woods had me picking up pine cones, telling The Dog not to eat deer poop, and marveling at the power of the wind.
