Report From An Opinionated Gardener – March 17
On Saint P’s day it’s not the norm
for temperatures to be so warm.
Almost sixty and such relief,
even though we know it will be brief.
We’re sure that future days will bring
colder temps before it’s spring.
But while it’s warm I went outside
to see what flowers might be spied.
The entry garden is mostly bare;
dormant plants prevail there.
But bending closer and finding focus
my spirits soured to see some crocus.
Not very big, their numbers scant,
(it’s not a very showy plant).
Yet this small bulb is off the charts
for lifting winter weary hearts.

Crocus opened today for the first time this spring - in my entry garden.
