Report From PIA – May 6

I spent the day with Sarah M, taking Mel up to bury his wife in their cemetery plot in New Hampshire. It was a tiring excursion, but in the end we all felt that we’d done right by Mary. She wanted her body to be near her hometown church, and her husband, priest, friends and family were there to see her wishes honored.

After I got home I went up to the shed to check in on the seedlings. The unusually warm spring, and the many sunny days, are causing these plants to spring out of the growing medium with vigor. The growing shed practically vibrated with the energy of these young plants.

Friends, faith, family, growth and death: it was an exhausting day, but one that held the currents that make up the circle of life.

Mel and Mary, taken this past February on Mary's 93rd birthday.
