I’m counting my blessings.

In this Thanksgiving season I'm thankful that the garden is, indeed, seasonal. I appreciate the changing, fleeting beauty the landscape holds from day to day.

I'm grateful for self-seeding plants,

and for the tasty food the garden has provided.

I'm thankful for discoveries like the pinkish-lavender Blushing Princess alyssum that has earned its place as a Proven Winner. I'm glad that it's still hard to kill Mecardonia 'Gold Dust' no matter how hot and dry it gets, and I'm thrilled that SunPatiens don't get downy mildew.

I'm appreciative that even utilitarian areas of the garden can look pretty darn attractive.

I'm thankful that a garden is the first room people enter when coming in my house,

and I'm grateful for shady places to rest...even though we don't sit in them often.

Thanks for the surprises

and all of the fun.

Thanks, Poison Ivy Acres, for all of this and more.
